This video of Jack Nicklaus shows perhaps the perfect way to approach putting.
Take a look where you want the ball to go.
Get set.
And then putt.
It’s easy to over-think putts and get worried about where the ball is going to go. But when you look and shoot your subconscious will take care of the rest. You’re not going to make all of your putts, but you’ll definitely putt better and with way less stress. It’s automatic.
By the way. It’s not a bad strategy to use for all your shots. In your next game out see if you can play more like Jack and less like Miller. It’s more of a mindset thing.

May 22, 2014Its like drawing. People say “I can’t draw a straight line”. The reason is because they look at the line instead of looking at the place where they want the line to finish. Look at the finish point, relax the hand and just go straight at the chosen point, MOVING FROM THE SHOULDER. After a few goes you’ll find its actually easy and you’ll start to realise how good your built-in hand/eye coordination actually is if you can just get out of the way and stop “trying hard”.

May 22, 2014GP: I like this. A lot. Less focus on HOW to do it but more on WHAT you want to do. Less fluffing around. Better results. Good stuff.
